Saatchi & Saatchi Direct: Creative Director
Time Life: Director of Advertising

Jack’s career in advertising started in 1980 at the Time Inc Magazine Consumer Marketing group in New York City. In his dream job with Time Inc and, mostly, Sports Illustrated, he wrote scores of DRTV spots and direct mail packs for SI, Time, Life, Money, Fortune, Discover and People. He served as copywriter and, after subtle lobbying, Promotion Director.

He was also awarded the division’s most sought-after travel position of International Promotion Manager for Time and Fortune coordinating the advertising campaigns in the Hong Kong, Sydney, Amsterdam, Toronto and Mexico City offices.

In 1988 Jack joined Time Life Books in Alexandria VA where he was Director of Advertising.  He headed a 65-person division. His responsibilities included the creative department, a $150MM media budget, consumer research and print/DM production departments. Essentially, he ran a full-service, in-house ad agency.

Jack and his group managed the successful launches of the Mysteries of the Unknown and the Trials of Life video series. Created infomercials for Rolling Stone’s Rock and Roll Collection and Ken Burns’ Civil War Video Series. And managed a joint venture with Time Life Video and Warner Home Video.

In addition to 11 years at Time Warner, Jack was Creative Director for 5 years at Saatchi & Saatchi Direct and Draft Direct where his team promoted Fidelity Investments and Home Box Office, launched MCI’s Proof Positive product, sold Rogaine and Con Edison via DRTV and direct mail, among many other assignments.

In 1994, Jack started M3. He and his team of marketing pros have created advertising for a blue chip roster of clients including:  America Online, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Wells Fargo, Road Runner High Speed Online, Time Warner Cable, many Rodale and Conde Nast titles, iVillage.com, Intuit and more.

Today, m3digital (agency name added a word) is helping RedPrairie tap social media with viral videos and interactive micro-sites, Poland Spring deliver their straight from Maine water, TRA market their new service which is like Nielsen on accountability steroids, Terminix recycle bugs and is doing some novel web work for Millennium Promise, a non-profit dedicated to ending extreme poverty.

Over the years Jack has written and produced over 800 long and short-form commercials, helped launch some of the world’s most popular web sites and signed up millions of people for magazine subscriptions, book and videos series, investment accounts, cable TV subscriptions and more.

Jack received a BA from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and is a lifelong Eagles and Phillies fan despite 30 years in NYC.  He’s also an Instrument Rated pilot who’s not too proud to let the autopilot fly the airplane.
